EASTON THOMAS AND NATHAN HOUSTON COMPETED AND WON FIRST PLACE IN THE MIDDLE SCHOOL E-SPORTS LEAGUE CENTRAL DIVISION FOR ROCKET LEAGUE 2V2, BEATING MORE THAN 85 OTHER TEAMS ACROSS THE NATION.

WILL EASTON, NATHAN, ROBIN YOUNG WHO IS THEIR ESPORTS MENTOR, MARISSA RAMIREZ AND DR.

AND NOW FOR OUR STAFF RECOGNITION. WE'RE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT ROUND ROCK ISD HAS RECEIVED THE AWARD OF MERIT FOR PURCHASING OPERATIONS FROM THE TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL BUSINESS OFFICIALS. THE TASBO AWARD OF MERIT PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED IN 2009 TO RECOGNIZE SCHOOL DISTRICTS THAT DISPLAY EXCELLENCE IN THEIR PROCUREMENT POLICIES AND POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. THE EXTENSIVE APPLICATION PROCESS IDENTIFIES TOP DISTRICTS THROUGHOUT THE STATE THAT WORK TO STREAMLINE PURCHASING OPERATIONS, COMPLY WITH REGULATIONS, AND SET THE STANDARD FOR HOW TO BEST USE TAXPAYER DOLLARS.

ROUND ROCK ISD PURCHASING DEPARTMENT HAS RECEIVED THE AWARD OF MERIT EVERY YEAR SINCE THE PROGRAM'S INCEPTION.

AND SO WITH US IS DR. NICHOLS. NATALIE IS HERE TO TALK ABOUT OUR LSG GOAL THREE WHICH IS COLLEGE CAREER MILITARY READINESS.

SO WE'RE GOING TO REPORT ON THAT THIS EVENING.

I'M HERE TO REPRESENT MY TEAM. WE ARE A TEAM OF PEOPLE IN SCHOOLS AND INNOVATION THAT COMPROMISES EVERYONE IN TEACHING AND LEARNING TO ALL OF THE AREA SUPERINTENDENTS AND ALL THE CAMPUSES AND THE WORK THEY DO EVERY DAY IN ORDER TO BRING THIS TO FRUITION.

WE'RE REPORTING ON BOARD GOAL THREE GOAL PROGRESS MEASURES SPECIFICALLY AS IT RELATES COLLEGE, CAREER AND MILITARY READINESS. AS WE KNOW, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE DID WITHIN THE STRATEGIC PLAN IS TO REALLY LOOK AT THE IDEA OF WHAT'S MOST IMPORTANT TO US AS A COMMUNITY. AND ONE OF THE THINGS AT THE VERY TOP THAT OUR COMMUNITY OF PARENTS, STUDENTS, TEACHERS AND OTHER STAFF MEMBERS SPOKE TO WAS THE IDEA OF, WE WANT OUR KIDS TO GRADUATE READY FOR COLLEGE, CAREER OR MILITARY. WE UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER EXPERIENCES THAT GO INTO EVERYTHING, BUT WE ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT WE WANT THEM TO TRANSITION FROM OUR INSTITUTION AND MAKE SURE THAT ANY HOPE AND DREAM THAT THEY HAVE FOR THEMSELVES CAN COME TRUE.

AND ALSO THE FACT THAT WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR STUDENTS HAVE THE ABILITY TO SUPPORT THEMSELVES AND MAKE A LIVING WAGE.

SPECIFICALLY, WITHIN BOARD GOAL THREE FOR CCMR, THE BOARD SET CERTAIN GOALS.

THEY SET THE GOALS OVERARCHINGLY AS FAR AS WHAT WE WANT TO ACCOMPLISH, BUT ALSO SPECIFICALLY FOR ALL THE DIFFERENT POPULATIONS WITHIN OUR CAMPUS.

T HE END OF THE YEAR, GOAL FOR CCMR FOR THE YEAR 2025 IS 92%.

AND BEFORE YOU SEE THE BREAKDOWN AS FAR AS THE GOAL SET FOR EACH OF OUR DIFFERENT POPULATIONS WITHIN OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT.

WITHIN THE GOAL IS ALSO BROKEN DOWN INTO GOAL PROGRESS MEASURES.

THERE ARE THREE GOAL PROGRESS MEASURES FOR THIS SPECIFIC GOAL 3.1, 3.2 AND 3.3.

EACH OF THOSE DIFFERENT GOALS HAVE A DIFFERENT A DIFFERENT EACH OF THESE DIFFERENT GOAL PROGRESS MEASURES HAVE A DIFFERENT NUMERICAL GOAL.

SPECIFICALLY, THIS GOAL BOARD GOAL IS MADE UP OF THE AREAS FOR CCMR. SO FOR EXAMPLE 3.1 SPECIFICALLY SPEAKS TO EARNING COLLEGE CREDIT.

AND THAT IS PART OF HOW WE EARN OUR ACCOUNTABILITY.

AND THAT SPEAKS TO ADVANCED PLACEMENT, INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE, DUAL CREDIT AND ON RAMPS.

GPM 3.2 SPEAKS SPECIFICALLY TO THE PERCENTAGE OF SENIORS TESTING AS COLLEGE READY, MEANING SAT/ACT AND ALSO TSIA TWO AND GOAL PROGRESS 3.3 SPEAKS SPECIFICALLY TO OUR CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION.

AND WHAT IT SAYS IS NOT ONLY DO STUDENTS NEED TO PASS AN INDUSTRY CERTIFICATION, BUT THEY ALSO NEED TO MAKE SURE WITHIN THEIR PROGRAM OF STUDY THAT THEY ARE A COMPLETER. A NOTE IN REGARDS TO GPM 3.3 RIGHT NOW FOR THE STATE, THEY ASKED, NOT THAT YOU'RE A COMPLETER, BUT YOU'RE A CONCENTRATOR. BUT WE HAVE SET THE GOAL AT WHAT WILL BE THE END GOAL, WHICH WILL BE IN ANOTHER YEAR, IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE THAT THE SYSTEM IS USED TO THIS LEVEL.

FOR 3.1, OUR OVERARCHING GOAL IS 53% FOR 2025, 3.2 76%, AND 2025 18%.

NOW, ONE OF THE THINGS WE MAKE SURE TO DO AS AN ORGANIZATION IS WE ALIGN WHAT THE BOARD ASKS US TO ACCOMPLISH, TO WHAT GOES INTO OUR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN AND OUR CONCURRENT CAMPUS IMPROVEMENT PLANS.

BOARD GOAL FOUR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN GOAL FOUR SPEAKS TO BOARD THIS BOARD GOAL.

AND THEN WE HAVE SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES. PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE NUMBER 16 IS WHERE WE FIND THE INFORMATION IN REGARDS TO COLLEGE,

CAREER AND MILITARY READINESS. IF YOU LOOK AT OUR OUR DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN, AFTER YOU HAVE AN OBJECTIVE, THEN THERE ARE SPECIFIC STRATEGIES THAT WE SPEAK TO.

AND THEN THERE'S A RESULT THAT AN IMPACT THAT WE'RE WANTING IT TO HAVE.

SO WITHIN THAT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE 16, WE HAVE STRATEGY ONE THAT SPEAKS TO SCHEDULING FOR FUTURE READINESS AS FAR AS THE PLANS THAT WE MAKE IN HIGH SCHOOL, THE FOUR YEAR PLANS FOR OUR STUDENTS.

STRATEGY TWO SPECIFICALLY SPEAKS TO MAKING SURE THAT WE STRUCTURE A SYSTEM TO WHERE WE HAVE MORE COMPLETERS WITHIN THE SYSTEM, AND THAT WE'RE TRACKING THAT AND PUTTING DIFFERENT SUPPORTS IN PLACE.

AND THEN WE HAVE STRATEGY THREE THAT SPECIFICALLY TALKS ABOUT HOW WE PROVIDE TSIA TESTING, AND ALSO A VEHICLE TO MAKE SURE THAT STUDENTS HAVE THE INFORMATION NEEDED, THE CONTENT NEEDED IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

WHEN WE OVERARCHINGLY LOOK AT THE HISTORICAL HISTORICALLY WHERE WE'VE BEEN IN REGARDS TO BOARD GOAL THREE, WE SEE IN 2022 WE ACHIEVED THAT ABOUT 76%, IN 2023, WE ACHIEVED AT ABOUT 84%, LAST YEAR, 2024 90%, AND THIS YEAR TO DATE, WE ARE AT 66% OF OUR STUDENTS WHO HAVE ACHIEVED COLLEGE READINESS.

THIS IS A BREAKDOWN BY OUR DIFFERENT STUDENT POPULATIONS AS FAR AS WHERE THEY ARE.

TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE IS ACCLIMATED TO THIS GRAPHIC PLEASE KNOW THAT THIS IS MEASURING SEVERAL DIFFERENT THINGS.

NUMBER ONE, IT'S MEASURING WHERE WE WERE AS FAR AS LAST YEAR.

THE PART THAT IS COLORED REPRESENTED LAST YEAR, WHICH IS END OF 2024.

AND WHAT IT STATES, IT TELLS YOU WHERE WE WERE AT THE HALFWAY POINT OF THE YEAR.

SO, FOR EXAMPLE, IF WE'RE LOOKING AT ALL STUDENTS AND I CAN'T SEE THAT NUMBER YOU SEE IN THE PURPLE, IT SAYS 70%. SO AT THE TIME WE MEASURED LAST YEAR, WE WERE AT 70% OF OUR STUDENTS WERE ACHIEVING CCMR, WHILE RIGHT NOW WE'RE AT 66%. WE TRY TO MEASURE AROUND THE SAME TIME EVERY YEAR, BUT KNOW THAT THERE'S A SLIGHT DIFFERENCE OF A MONTH OR SO AS FAR AS FOR THESE TWO NUMBERS. AND THEN IN THE GREEN, IT JUST TELLS YOU AT THE END OF THE YEAR WHAT OUR NUMBERS WERE.

SO THAT IS WHAT THIS GRAPHIC, IF YOU'RE READING IT AS FAR AS HOW TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE UNDERSTANDING.

AND WHAT WE'RE SEEING RIGHT NOW IS ALMOST FOR ALL THE DIFFERENT POPULATIONS, WE'RE A LITTLE BIT BEHIND AS FAR AS WHERE WE ARE LAST YEAR FROM WHERE WE WERE LAST YEAR. AND AS WE GO ON IN THE PRESENTATION, WE'LL KIND OF SPEAK TO THAT.

NOW GOING SPECIFICALLY INTO GOAL PROGRESS MEASURE 3.1.

AND THIS SPEAKS SPECIFICALLY TO ADVANCED COURSEWORK.

AND THAT IS DEFINED AS ADVANCED PLACEMENT, INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE, DUAL CREDIT AND ON RAMPS DUAL ENROLLMENT COURSES.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT IS NOT THE IDEA OF BEING AN ADVANCED PLACEMENT CLASS AND PASSING IT THAT GETS YOU THE CREDIT.

IT'S WHETHER OR NOT YOU'VE TAKEN THE TEST AND PASSED AT A THREE OR BETTER.

IT'S THE SAME THING WITH INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE, THE STUDENT CAN BE IN AN IB CLASS AND PASS THE CLASS, BUT IT'S WHETHER OR NOT THEY'VE TAKEN THE CORRESPONDING IB TEST AND PASSED IT AT A FOUR OR HIGHER THAT GIVES THEM THE CREDIT FOR ADVANCED COURSEWORK.

FOR DUAL CREDIT AND DUAL ENROLLMENT, THE STUDENT HAS TO TAKE THE CLASS AND ALSO HAVE A PASSING GRADE IN THE CLASS.

FOR 3.1 THE END OF THE YEAR GOAL IS 53% FOR 2025.

WE SEE HISTORICALLY WHERE WE'VE BEEN AT THE START OF IN 2022, WE WERE AT 43%, AND THOSE REPRESENT END OF THE YEAR NUMBERS FOR THE CLASS OF 22, 23 AND 24. AND WHERE YOU'RE SEEING SO FAR FOR THE CLASS OF 25, AS OF DECEMBER, WE ARE ALREADY AT 50%. AND SO YOU SEE WITHIN HERE, THEN WHERE WE ARE REALLY PUTTING A LOT OF OUR STOCK BEHIND AND WHERE WE WANT OUR STUDENTS TO ACHIEVE. AND SO I WANT TO SPEAK A LITTLE BIT AS FAR AS EXACTLY WHY WE'RE PUTTING A LOT OF OUR EFFORT WITHIN THIS AREA.

RIGHT NOW, WHAT WE'RE UNDERGOING IS TEA IS MAKING A LOT OF CHANGES EVERY DAY IN REGARDS HOW THEY MEASURE COLLEGE, CAREER AND MILITARY READINESS. AND WHAT WE SEE IS THEN OH. I'M SORRY. THREW ME OFF. AND SO WHAT WE'RE SEEING IS THE THE WAYS IN WHICH WE QUALIFY BECOMING MORE AND MORE STRINGENT. AND SO ONCE UPON A TIME, IF I WAS JUST SIMPLY IN A DUEL IN A CLASS, AN AP CLASS, I CAN GET CREDIT. WHERE OVER TIME, THEN THEY HAVE CHANGED EXACTLY WHAT ALLOWS YOU TO QUALIFY IN ORDER TO GET THAT CREDIT.

IT IS OUR BELIEF THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE THINGS AS THEY MAKE CHANGES WITHIN THE SYSTEM.

AND I'LL TALK TO YOU ABOUT SOME OF THE CHANGES THAT ARE HAPPENING. THIS IS THE LAST.

THIS WILL BE THE HARDEST FOR THEM TO CHANGE. SO IF AS AN ORGANIZATION, WE'RE REALLY STRONG HERE, AS OTHER THINGS FALL OFF, WE WILL ALWAYS BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN OUR NUMBERS, SPEAK VERY CLOSE TO OUR NUMBERS.

SO WE REALLY FEEL THAT IT'S IMPORTANT THEN TO CREATE A SYSTEM WHERE WE HAVE MORE STUDENTS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THIS THESE TYPES OF CLASSES.

I KNOW IN THE PAST THAT SOMETIMES PART OF THE CONVERSATION HAS BEEN NOT EVERY STUDENT IS AN AP DUAL CREDIT ONRAMP STUDENT, BUT WHAT WE'RE ALSO WORKING ON IS REALLY CHANGING THAT MENTALITY, BECAUSE BASED ON WHAT THE WORLD OF WORK IS ASKING FOR, REALLY AND TRULY, YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO ACHIEVE AT THIS LEVEL.

IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT EVERYONE HAS TO TAKE ALL OF THEIR CLASSES.

THE DIFFERENTIATION HAS TO BE NOW, NOT WHETHER OR NOT I'M TAKING AN ADVANCED COURSE.

THE DIFFERENTIATION DIFFERENTIATION SIMPLY HAS TO BE HOW MANY I TAKE BASED ON WHAT'S APPROPRIATE FOR ME.

THEN AGAIN, THIS IS A YEAR OVER YEAR COMPARISON, ONE YEAR OVER THE OTHER.

AGAIN, JUST AS BEFORE, WE SEE WITHIN SOME AREAS IN 2024 WE ACHIEVED AT A HIGHER RATE THAN WE ARE CURRENTLY, SPECIFICALLY WITHIN THIS AREA. THERE ARE SOME POPULATIONS THAT ARE RIGHT THERE CLOSE A LITTLE BIT ABOVE, BUT BY AND FAR WE HAVE NOT OUTPACED OURSELVES FROM WHERE WE WERE WITHIN 2024 AT ABOUT THE CORRESPONDING TIME IN THE YEAR.

NOW WE ARE LOOKING AT GPM 3.2, WHICH SPECIFICALLY SAYS ARE OUR STUDENTS MATH AND READING READY.

A WORD HERE YOU ARE ABLE TO BE MATH OR READING READY BASED ON YOUR SCORE IN THE SAT, THE ACT, TSIA TWO, OR A COLLEGE PREPARATION COURSE AND ASSESSMENT.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT'S IMPORTANT TO KNOW JUST SO THAT EVERYONE HAS SOME BACKGROUND, THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS THAT WITHIN OUR OTHER BOARD GOALS, SPECIFICALLY WITHIN MATH AND READING, IT'S SO IMPORTANT THEN THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE ACHIEVING AT THE MEETS LEVEL, BECAUSE THE ABILITY OF OUR STUDENTS TO ACHIEVE AT THE MEETS LEVEL, WE'RE FINDING CORRESPONDS THEN FOR THEIR ABILITY TO BE MATH AND READING READY AS THEY TAKE THESE THESE COURSE, NOT THESE COURSES, THESE DIFFERENT TESTS THAT AND WHERE THEY'RE ABLE TO PERFORM AT A CERTAIN LEVEL.

SO IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT THEN THAT OUR CURRICULUM IS WRITTEN AT A CERTAIN LEVEL OF RIGOR.

AND THAT'S ALSO OUR STUDENTS ARE ABLE TO PERFORM AT A CERTAIN LEVEL OF RIGOR AND EVEN PASS THE STAAR TEST AT A CERTAIN LEVEL, BECAUSE WHAT WE'RE SPECIFICALLY LOOKING AT IS WHETHER OR NOT IF THEY'RE PERFORMING AT A CERTAIN LEVEL, WE KNOW THAT THE SYSTEM IS TRIANGULATED TOWARDS OUR STUDENTS BEING MATH AND READING READY.

THE DATA, OUR END GOAL FOR THIS YEAR IN THIS GPM IS 76%.

WE SEE HISTORICALLY OVER TIME, WE'VE GONE FROM 63% IN 2022 TO 72% TO ABOUT 80%.

AND RIGHT NOW FOR THE 80%, THE 79.7 WAS END OF THE YEAR FOR THE CLASS OF 2024.

RIGHT NOW, FOR THE CLASS OF 2025, WE'RE AT 58% FOR THIS TIME OF THE YEAR.

SO WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS THIS IS JUST TO LOOK AT WHERE WE ARE RIGHT NOW WITHIN THIS YEAR, WE STILL HAVE A LOT OF RUNWAY LEFT IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE WORKING WITH OUR STUDENTS AND GETTING THEM WHERE THEY NEED TO BE.

THIS IS A YEAR OVER YEAR COMPARISON WITH STUDENTS AS FAR AS HOW THEY HAVE PERFORMED IN THE DIFFERENT POPULATIONS.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE LOOK AT, NOT JUST IF WE'RE ON PACE, BUT IF DISPROPORTIONATELY WE HAVE CERTAIN CERTAIN GROUPS, CERTAIN POPULATIONS THAT ARE NOT DOING WELL AS OTHERS.

AND THEN HOW DO WE PLAN TOWARDS THE END OF THE YEAR? WHAT IS THE BEST OPPORTUNITY FOR THIS STUDENT IN ORDER TO BE COLLEGE AND CAREER READY? OUR THIRD AND FINAL GPM WITHIN THIS BOARD GOAL IS GPM 3.3, WHICH SPEAKS SPECIFICALLY TO BEING COLLEGE READY AS IT PERTAINS TO COLLEGE. I'M SORRY TO CTE. CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION.

WHAT THIS LOOKS AT IS SPECIFICALLY THE PERCENTAGE OF GRADUATES WHO ARE COLLEGE READY IN CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION AND INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION.

SO SOME OF THE THINGS TO KNOW THAT OVER TIME, THE STATE HAS SAID AT ONE POINT, IF YOU SIMPLY TOOK A CTE COURSE, ANY COURSE, YOU WOULD CONSIDER CAREER READY, WHICH GAVE YOU THE CCMR DESIGNATION.

AND THEN IT CHANGED TO SAY, WELL, NOT ONLY DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE BE IN A COURSE, BUT SOMEWHERE WITHIN THAT PROGRAM OF STUDY, YOU HAVE TO PASS AN INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION.

THEN IT HAS CHANGED TO I NEED YOU TO BE A CONCENTRATOR, WHICH MEANS I NEED YOU TO TAKE TWO, AT LEAST TWO COURSES WITHIN THAT PROGRAM OF STUDY.

AND WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR, IT WILL BE CHANGING WHERE IT SAYS, I NEED YOU TO BE A COMPLETER, WHERE YOU TAKE AT LEAST THREE PLUS YEARS WITHIN THAT PROGRAM OF STUDY AND ALSO PASS AT THE SAME TIME TO IBC.

WE WERE JUST ON A CALL TODAY WHERE WE GOT SOME MORE WONDERFUL NEWS AND THAT'S VERY TONGUE IN CHEEK, VERY SARCASTIC IF YOU WEREN'T ABLE TO READ THAT, WHERE ONE OF THE THINGS THAT THEY HAVE DECIDED IS THAT NOW THEY'RE GOING TO TEAR THE IBCS, AND WHAT THEY'RE GOING TO SAY IS THE IBC IS A TIER ONE, 2 OR 3.

AND ALSO IT'S NOT GOING TO BE BASED ON OUR REGIONAL DATA, BUT RATHER ON OUR NATIONAL DATA AND TWC DATA.

RIGHT. SO THAT'S WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO PUSH BACK, IS THAT IF WE WANT TO MAKE CHANGES, YOU KEEP CHANGING THE RULES OF THE GAME.

AT LEAST ALLOW FOR SCHOOL DISTRICTS, INCLUDING OUR DISTRICT, TO ADJUST TO OUR TEAM, OUR TEACHERS, OUR PARENTS, EVERYBODY CAN WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

SO THERE MIGHT BE A CERTIFICATION IN THE FIRST CLASS I TAKE IN THE SECOND YEAR, THE THIRD YEAR, THE FOURTH YEAR. ONE OF THE THINGS THEY'RE ALSO SAYING IS THE IBC NOW HAS TO BE IN THE CAPSTONE CLASS.

AND SO THAT TOTALLY CHANGES THE WHOLE CONCEPT OF HOW NOT JUST ROUND ROCK ISD, BUT ALL OF THE DISTRICTS HAVE PUT THEIR SYSTEM TOGETHER.

SO IF NOW THAT IBC ONLY COUNTS, IF IT'S IN THE LAST CLASS IN THE PROGRAM OF STUDY, IT MEANS PRETTY MUCH ALL THE OTHER THINGS THAT THE STUDENTS ARE TAKING WILL NOT COUNT IN ORDER FOR US IN OUR CCMR. SO LOTS OF DIFFERENT CHANGES THAT REALLY VASTLY IMPACT THEN WHAT THESE NUMBERS LOOK LIKE AND HOW WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO ACHIEVE CCMR FOR OUR STUDENTS WITHIN OUR DIFFERENT AREAS.

AND ON TOP OF THAT, YOU'RE ABLE TO PASS THE IBC.

AGAIN WITH THE CHANGES COMING DOWN IT MIGHT TOTALLY CHANGE HOW WE SEE THIS GPM AND CHANGES THAT WE MAY HAVE TO MAKE BASED ON HOW WE REPORT THIS OUT TO THE BOARD. AND JUST TO ADD TO WHAT NATALIE IS SAYING IS THAT IF YOU SEE THE DROP.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE'VE SEEN IS THAT MATH IS SOMETHING THAT IS WE'VE SEEN THAT IS VERY DIFFICULT ALL ACROSS THE STATE.

THEY'VE MADE A LOT OF CHANGES AS FAR AS HOW THEY'RE TESTING AND HOW STUDENTS ARE ABLE TO PERFORM.

AND SO WHAT WE SEE IS THAT OVERARCHINGLY, THERE'S BEEN A HARDER TIME FOR OUR STUDENTS MEETING THE MEETS LEVEL, BUT WE'RE STILL PUSHING FORWARD, MAKING CHANGE WITHIN OUR CURRICULUM AND REALLY WORKING THAT INTO OUR PLC PROCESS, WHERE WE TRAIN AND MEET WITH OUR TEACHERS IN ORDER TO GET BETTER WITHIN THAT AREA.

AND WE'VE WORKED REALLY ON CHANGING A LOT OF OUR CURRICULUM.

BY FOCUSING ON CLOSING GAPS TEXAS AIMS TO PROVIDE MORE EQUITABLE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND OUTCOMES FOR ALL STUDENTS, PARTICULARLY THOSE WHO HAVE ECONOMIC BARRIERS DUE TO SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS, LANGUAGE, OR DISABILITIES.

CLOSING THE GAP ENSURES THAT THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM IS NOT ONLY HELPING THE MAJORITY OF SYSTEMS SUCCEED, THE MAJORITY OF STUDENTS SUCCEED, BUT ALSO PROVIDING TARGETED SUPPORT FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNDERPERFORMING DUE TO SYSTEMIC FACTORS.

NOW, THERE ARE SPECIFIC THINGS THAT IT LOOKS AT WITHIN THIS AREA.

IT LOOKS AT STAAR SCORES, SPECIFICALLY THE PERCENTAGE OF KIDS THAT ARE PERFORMING AT EXCEEDING LEVEL.

IT LOOKS AT LOOKS AT GRADUATION RATES AND IT ALSO LOOKS AT CCMR, ALL THE DIFFERENT THINGS IT LOOKS AT WITHIN THIS AREA.

SO WHAT STUDENTS ARE WE TALKING ABOUT WHEN WE'RE MEASURING STUDENT GROUPS AND LOOKING AT THE DIFFERENT GAPS.

SPECIFICALLY WE'RE LOOKING AS HOW WELL THESE STUDENT GROUPS ARE DOING AS COMPARED TO THEIR PEERS.

THE DIFFERENT POPULATIONS ARE AFRICAN AMERICANS OR BLACK STUDENTS, HISPANIC, WHITE STUDENTS, ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED ENGLISH LEARNERS, STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES, FOSTER CARE STUDENTS, HOMELESS STUDENTS, AND AT RISK STUDENTS. DOMAIN THREE PLAYS A MAJOR ROLE IN DETERMINING A SCHOOL OR DISTRICT'S OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITY RATING.

IF SIGNIFICANT GAPS ARE FOUND AND NOT ADDRESSED, THEN THE SCHOOL MAY FACE LOWER RATINGS OR ADDITIONAL SUPPORT MEASURES.

SCHOOLS AND DISTRICTS ARE REQUIRED TO MEET CERTAIN BENCHMARKS FOR CLOSING GAPS IN PERFORMANCE.

AGAIN, EARLIER WHEN WE SPOKE TO CCMR, WE TALKED ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF STUDENTS PERFORMING AT THE MEETS LEVEL BECAUSE WE SAY IF THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM, STUDENTS ARE ABLE TO PERFORM AT THE MEETS LEVEL AND HIGHER, THEN THEY'RE ABLE TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND GET TO THE END GOAL, WHICH FOR US IS CCMR. SO WHAT THIS IS LOOKING AT IT SETS FOR EACH OF THOSE DIFFERENT POPULATIONS THERE'S A MARK THAT YOU HAVE TO HIT IN ORDER TO SAY THIS PERCENTAGE OF THIS POPULATION WITHIN YOUR SYSTEM IS PERFORMING, THIS IS THE PERCENTAGE OF KIDS PERFORMING AT THAT LEVEL AT THAT MEETS LEVEL.

AND THEN WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE GOOD TO GO OR NOT IS BASED ON IF YOU'RE HITTING THAT MARK.

AND SO THEN THAT'S HOW THEY LOOK, WHAT PERCENTAGE OF YOUR KIDS ARE PERFORMING.

SO THAT'S WHY THAT IDEA OF MEETS AND THE BOARD SETTING BOARD GOALS, SPECIFICALLY BASED ON ITS MEETS, MEETS AFFECTS US ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE SYSTEM.

NOW, EVEN THOUGH SOME STUDENTS MAY NOT BE PERFORMING AT THAT MEETS LEVEL, WHAT THEY ALSO GIVE US POINTS FOR PARTIAL POINTS IS WHETHER OR NOT THEY ARE GAINING ON THAT. SO YOU DO WHETHER OR NOT STUDENTS ARE DOING BETTER.

WHAT PERCENTAGE HAVE MADE ADVANCEMENT AND NOT STAYING AT THE SAME LEVEL? WE'RE ABLE TO GET SOME POINTS BASED ON THAT. SO THAT'S WHY ALL OF THIS IS INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT.

AND THEN THE OTHER CHANGE IS THE ENROLLMENT INCENTIVE INCENTIVE IN NOVEMBER, WE HAD IT ESTIMATED AT $3.3 MILLION.

BUT WHEN WE PAID IT OUT IN DECEMBER, IT WAS AT $3.5 MILLION.

SO OUR INCREASE IN EXPENSES FOR JUST SALARIES AND BENEFITS IS ABOUT $3.3 MILLION.

ON THE ALLOCATION SIDE T HE ONLY THING THAT WE ADDED WAS THE UNFUNDED BUDGET EXPENSES, WHICH IS THE SECOND YELLOW LINE BASED ON THINGS THAT WE'VE ADDED SINCE 11/14. WE HAD AN INCREASE IN OUR JJAEP CONTRACT OF ABOUT $48,000.

WE HAD A NURSE CONTRACT FOR OUR FOR A SPED STUDENT FOR ABOUT $40,000, AND WE HAD RETIREES THAT LEFT OUR DISTRICT, AND AS YOU ALL KNOW, WE HAVE TO PAY OUT THEIR DAYS AND THAT WAS ABOUT $619,000.

SO WE HAVE A $708,000 INCREASE IN OUR TOTAL ALLOCATIONS BUDGET.

AND IF YOU LOOK AT THE TOTAL EXPENSE COMPARED TO 11/14 VERSUS 12/18, IT'S RIGHT AT $4 MILLION INCREASE IN TOTAL EXPENSES.
