AND IF YOU GO TO ANY OF OUR SITES WHERE SUMMER LEARNING IS TAKING PLACE, PROBABLY BECAUSE ANYONE CAN WEAR A MASK IF THEY'RE MORE COMFORTABLE WEARING A MASK, THEY'RE PROBABLY 20 TO 25 PERCENT OF OUR STUDENTS THAT YOU SEE WEARING MASK AND THE OTHERS ARE NOT THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER. AND WE'RE IN THE SECOND SESSION OF SUMMER LEARNING RIGHT NOW. SO THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER, WE'VE HAD ONE STUDENT REPORTED CASE AND ONE STAFF REPORTED CASE AND SOME ARE LEARNING, AND THAT'S A LOT OF PEOPLE. SO THAT'S ENCOURAGING TO ME THAT, YOU KNOW, THE VERY I IS MORE RECENT. BUT THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER, SINCE WE'VE HAD SUMMER LEARNING GOING ON, THOSE NUMBERS APPEAR. BUT ONE ONE IS TOO MANY. THE WAY WE WERE, THE WAY I SHOULDN'T QUOTE THAT, THE WAY WE USED TO BE BEFORE THE PANDEMIC CAME, THAT OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF, BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT'S THE VERY BEST WAY FOR OUR STUDENTS TO LEARN. AND WE KNOW WE'VE HAD A LOT OF GAPS CREATED A LOT OF DISRUPTION ON CAMPUSES WITH PLEXIGLASS AND MASK AND REQUIREMENTS AND QUARANTINES. SO OUR BEST HOPE AND, YOU KNOW, HOPE IS HOPE. BUT I MEAN, WE'RE HOPING THAT FOLKS ARE COMFORTABLE COMING BACK. IT'S SAFE TO COME BACK. AND SO THE TRADITIONAL LEARNING MODEL IS THE ONE THAT IS OUR FIRST AND FOREMOST FOCUS FOR GETTING READY, BECAUSE THE STUDENTS THAT DO COME BACK IN THE BUILDING ARE GOING TO NEED A LOT OF HELP TO ACCELERATE. ON THE COMMISSIONER'S CALL TODAY, THERE WAS A LOT OF INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT'S REQUIRED WITH STUDENTS WHO FAILED TO MEET STANDARD RECEIVING 30 HOURS OF ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTION. WE TALKED ABOUT BEING FLEXIBLE THIS FALL, ACCOMMODATING FAMILIES. AND AS I SAID EARLIER, ANYBODY CAN WEAR A MASK. WE WOULD NEVER TELL ANYBODY YOU CAN'T WEAR A MASK AND WE WOULD NEVER TELL ANYBODY AT THIS POINT IN TIME THAT YOU HAVE TO WEAR A MASK. IF THE RULES CHANGE, IF THE LAW CHANGES, THEN WE'LL DO WHAT WE NEED TO DO TO KEEP EVERYBODY AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE.
